The other day I had to take my wife for some dental work. It got late quick and was time to go, no real time for a shower.
It was doubtful I would run into anyone at the dentist office, and I could wear a hat and t-shirt. But it feels a little more upscale of an office than me showing up like that.
I had just showered late evening the night before, so I felt ok taking a sailor’s shower.
My understanding of a sailor’s shower is dipping your head into the sink, get your hair wet and maybe a bit of soap. Then being able to comb it out, with nearly the same look as a “traditional” shower.
It worked just fine. The Sailor’s Shower is the equivalent to the entrepreneurial phrase “Done is Better Than Perfect.”
Sometimes getting most of the way there or presentable, and getting something done is far more important than perfection.

P.S. When I went to google “Sailor’s Shower” later, after the trip to the dentist, I couldn’t find any reference to it.
But that is what we called it growing up.
There was a reference to “Navy Shower” which is similar, that Naval personnel use to conserve water on ships.
